BOCA RATON, Fla – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed their first home meet of the season on Friday afternoon against Keiser.
The Owls swept the meet with the women taking a commanding 234 to 64 victory that included 14 event victories along the way. The men finished the meet with a 172 to 128 win that saw seven events taken by the Owls.
Women
- The day started with quick success for the Owls, taking first and second in the women's 200 medley relay. The team of Aura Vilarrasa, Ludo Pavia, Dolores Margni, and Izzy Jones won in a time of 1:45.34
- Talitha McEwan continued her strong season with a win in the 1000 free (10:29.42), an event that saw an Owls one-two-three sweep
- The sweeps carried over with Florida Atlantic taking 1-2-3 in the 200 free led by Cica Carvalho in a time of 1:54.34. Carvalho also led an Owls sweep in the 500 free, taking the win in a time of 5:03.46
- Amelia Robertson led an Owls one-two finish in the 100 back finishing first (59.09) with Megan Drover-Smith right behind (1:00.34). Robertson later guided an Owls sweep in the 200 back, winning with a time of 2:05.82
- The 100 breast was no different than the back, with Owls going one-two led by Bilú Bianchi (1:04.51). Bianchi also was victorious in the 200 breast (2:22.56)
- Taking the event's top two finishes didn't stop, with Margni (2:04.54) and Carvalho (2:06.85) finishing first and second in the 200 fly
- Florida Atlantic had a third sweep in the 50 free with Izzy Jones (24.16), Bry Bellile (24.29), and Pavia (24.44) taking the top three spots
- Lola Dragosavac led the Owls to 1-2-3-4 finishes in both the 1m and 3m diving. Dragosavac scored 245.78 on the 1m and 260.40 on the 3m
- Yasemine Safargar took the win in the 200 IM (2:10.25)
Men
- Timo Paisley gave the Owls their first victory of the day on the men side in the 200 free (1:39.69) with Daniel Laureyssens right behind (1:40.08)
- Paisley then led an Owls sweep in the 100 free, winning in a time of 45.70 with Laureyssens (45.91) and Logan Thornsberry (46.49) completing the sweep
- Shortly after, Kaan Nalcaci guided the Owls to a one-two finish in the 200 back (1:53.95)
- Freshman Matthew Hand continues to make waves, winning the 200 breast in a time of 2:05.91
- The Owls had another one-two finish, this time in the 500 free led by another freshman, James Shevchenko winning the event in a time of 4:35.47
- A second Owls sweep came in the 200 IM with Ryan Stahl (1:56.46), Nick Shaffer (1:56.83), and Hand (1:58.48) taking the top three spots
The Owls will host their annual Alumni and Family Meet, homecoming weekend, Saturday, November 2. After that the Owls will get a much deserved break before heading on the road for the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason, Thursday Nov. 21 through Saturday Nov. 23.
