BOCA RATON, Fla. –The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team (7-1) has moved up to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25, as announced by the AP on Monday afternoon.
Florida Atlantic also ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Net Rankings posted on Monday morning.
This past week, the Owls went undefeated in The Field of 68 Tip-Off where they played two games in three days. Florida Atlantic's victory over Liberty 83-58 snapped the Flames undefeated season, while the comeback win against the Cougars 90-74. marked the first win in program history against Charleston.
Offensively, the Owls averaged 86.5 points per game as they went 54.8% from the field and held both opponents to under 38% shooting. Junior center Vlad Goldin totaled 35 points, 19 rebounds, and 4 blocks on 14-17 shooting. As always, Florida Atlantic received contributions from many other players such as junior guard
Alijah Martin (33 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals), junior guard
Johnell Davis (26 points, 15 rebounds, 5 steals), junior forward
Giancarlo Rosado (24 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists, a block, and a steal). Senior guards
Bryan Greenlee and
Jalen Gaffney led the Owls in assists with five each.
Florida Atlantic returns to The Big Apple to play in Madison Square Garden. The Owls will face No. 20 Illinois tomorrow, Dec. 5. tip off is set at 6:30 p.m. and aired on ESPN.
