Owls Host Panthers for Education Day Thursday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball (4-3) continues its three-game home stretch on Thursday, hosting rival FIU (5-4) for the Owls' Education Day. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena and on ESPN+.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC: AT A GLANCE
- The Owls enter this week's rivalry matchup at 4-3 overall after snapping a two-game skid with an 18-point win, 78-60, against St. Thomas last Tuesday.

- Florida Atlantic's assists leader is Devyn Scott, who has dished out a team-best 2.9 assists per game.
- Defensively, the Owls are led on the glass by Janeta Rozentale, who ranks third in the AAC and leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game. Moore ranks second on the Owls with 6.3 rebounds per game.
- Dyllan Hanna leads the Owls in blocks, recording 1.6 blocks per game.

- The Owls bounced back in a big way last week, snapping a two-game skid with an 18-point victory, 78-60, over the St. Thomas Bobcats.
- Four Owls registered double-digit performances, with Mya Perry leading the way with 19 points in the win.
- Perry shot an impressive 64 percent (7-of-11) from the field and 83 percent (5-of-6) from 3-point range, while also turning in a rebound and a steal.
- Alexa Zaph, Janeta Rozentale, and Jada Moore rounded out the Owls' double-digit performers with 15, 14, and 13 points, respectively.
- Moore tallied a team-leading eight rebounds, while also dishing out a pair of assists.
- Devyn Scott spread out a team-best six assists, and Rozentale led the team with three steals in the win.
- As a team, the Owls shot 43.8 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3-point range, and 78.6 percent from the line.
- Florida Atlantic dominated in the paint, outscoring St. Thomas 34-16.
- The Owls also outscored the Bobcats 26-8 in points off turnovers, 13-7 in fast break points, and 11-2 in second-chance points.
- Florida Atlantic's reserves also dominated in the win, outscoring the Bobcats bench 40-14.
- The Owls had their best performance in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 27-12, in addition to outscoring St. Thomas 23-11 in the first.
SCOUTING FIU
- FIU enters Thursday's contest at 5-4 overall and are currently on a two-game winning streak, including an 88-81 win over Jacksonville and a 54-51 win vs. Bethune-Cookman.
- The Panthers also feature three double-figure scorers led by Mya Kone, Ajae Yoakum, and Courtney Prenger. Kone boasts a team-leading 11.3 ponts per game, while Yoakum has tallied 10.2 and Prenger has scored 10.0 points per game in 2023-24.
- Kone also leads the Panthers in boards, pulling down a team-leading 7.7 rebounds per game this season.
- Tanajah Hayes and Olivia Trice lead the Panthers in assists, registering 17 each, while Hayes has dished out a team-leading 4.25 assists per game.
- Kaliah Henderson and Angena Belloso have each collected a team-best 14 steals, while Henderson has registered a team-leading 1.75 steals per game.
- Maria Torres leads FIU in blocks, recording 1.0 blocks per game this season with nine.
SERIES HISTORY
- Florida Atlantic trails rival FIU 17-37 in the all-time series between the two programs, however the Owls have won the last two meetings between the two programs, earning a pair of 10-point wins, 70-60 on Dec. 13, 2022, and 76-66 on Jan. 11, 2023, last season. In Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic trails 10-16 against FIU.
