BOCA RATON, Fla. – For the first time since 2005, the Florida Atlantic Owls (20-12, 12-7 AAC) will compete in a national postseason tournament, prepping for the 2023 NIVC Tournament this weekend in El Paso. It also marks the Owls' first-ever appearance in the NIVC.
Florida Atlantic will play UT Arlington (20-10, 9-7 WAC) in the first round on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. ET. Following the Owls match, host UTEP (21-9, 11-5 CUSA) will take on AAC foe North Texas (17-15, 11-8 AAC) at 9:30 p.m. ET. The winners of Friday's first round matches will square off on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. ET.
- The Owls are marking their first national postseason appearance since 2005 and the first NIVC appearance in program history.
- Florida Atlantic closed out the regular season with its first 20-win season since 2018, finishing with a 20-12 overall record and a 12-7 record in AAC play.
- Arianna Beckham, Valeria Rosado, and Katelynn Robine have led the Owls offensively throughout the 2023 season.
- Beckham has tallied a team-leading 340 kills, averaging 2.93 kills per set. Rosado ranks second on the team with 269 kills, averaging 2.34 kills per set, while Robine ranks second on the team with 2.40 kills per set and recording 254 total kills this season.
- Victoria Hensley is the Owls' leading setter this season, posting 1,075 assists and averaging 9.19 assists per set.
- Isabelle Northam anchors the Owls back row, tallying 468 digs, averaging 4.0 digs per set.
- At the net, the Owls' are led by Kaila Ru, Arianna Beckham, and Lauryn Green. Ru has tallied a team-leading 91 blocks, averaging 0.86 blocks per set. Beckham ranks second on the team with 72 blocks, tallying 0.62 blocks per set, and Green ranks third with 68 blocks, and a team second-best 0.87 blocks per set.
- UT Arlington enters the NIVC at 20-10 overall and 9-7 in WAC play.
- The Mavericks are led offensively by Brianna Ford, who has tallied 433 kills, averaging 3.94 kills per set this season.
- UT Arlington's assists leader is setter Mollie Blank, who has dished out 1,007 assists, averaging 9.24 assists per set.
- Defensively, the Mavericks are anchored on the back line by Alli Wells, who has recorded 444 digs, posting 3.89 digs per set. At the net, UT Arlington has a trio of blocking leaders in Paige Reagor, Ford, and Kortney Puckett. Reagor leads the Mavericks with 91 blocks, averaging 1.10 pet set, while Ford has talked 90 blocks, tallying 0.82 per set, while Puckett has 89 blocks this season, registering 0.95 per set.
