Mora Wins First AAC Award

Irving, Texas. – Alicia Mora of the Florida Atlantic University women's diving team has been named the American Athletic Conference's Diving Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The graduate Mora is coming off a strong performance at the two-day TYR Fall Classic, where she dominated in the 1-meter dive with a score of 316.60, over 55 points more than the second place finisher.

She also posted a score of 283.05 in the 3-meter dive. Both dives gave her teams major points as the women's swimming & diving team finished in second place out of six teams. Both scores were also NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks.

For Mora, she earns her first weekly honor as a member of the AAC and the first overall on the Owls' women's swimming & diving team in the American.

It has been a successful start to the new conference for Mora. In her first campaign in 2022-23, she earned bronze medals in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive and became the first Owl to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2017. It is her first weekly honor.

Mora will next compete with the divers and the rest of the team on Friday as they take on Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, Oct. 13, beginning at 1 p.m.
