BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team has officially unveiled its tournament schedule for the fall of 2022 and spring of 2023. Now in his second season as head coach, Mark Leon will lead the Owls through nine regular season events leading up to the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark. next April.
The fall schedule features three events beginning with the Streamsong Intercollegiate hosted by Lipscomb in Bowling Green, Fla. on September 12. The Owls will head to Dallas in the first week of October for the Trinity Forest Intercollegiate hosted by SMU. Trinity Forest GC played host to the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Invitational in 2018 and 2019. The fall concludes in Arkansas with the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 17.
The Owls will start the spring season on January 28 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. with the Seabest Invitational. The Dye's Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass will play host. Events hosted by Florida, Auburn, and Florida State will follow before a trip out west to Silicon Valley. Stanford will once again host the Goodwin Intercollegiate at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, home of the 2020 PGA Championship.
After the regular season concludes with Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Invitational, the Owls will take a week off to prepare for the Conference USA Championship beginning April 24 in Texarkana, Ark. The NCAA Regionals will follow on May 15 and the DI National Championship gets underway on May 26 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"We could not be more excited to release our 2022-23 schedule," noted Leon. "FAU Golf has improved immensely over the past few years, and this schedule is representative of our continued growth as a program. We have a special opportunity to compete against many of the best teams in college golf on world class courses this year, and we are looking forward to stepping up to the challenge."
The Owls return most of the roster from last spring including all-conference selections Alex Maguire and Max Sturdza and all-freshman team member Jake Hibbert.
