BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's basketball head coach Jennifer Sullivan has announced the signing of transfer Joiya Maddox on Monday. Maddox, a Hoover, Alabama native, joins the Owls after spending the previous three years at Rutgers.
Â
"We are thrilled to have Joiya joining our Owl family," said Sullivan. "Her athleticism, versatility and dynamic skillset along with her passion to get better as a player make her a really exciting addition to our roster. Joiya's humility, authenticity and energy are qualities that we know will have an instant impact on the court, in the locker room and in our family."
Â
Maddox is coming off her redshirt sophomore season having played in 17 games with two starts. In the Scarlet Knights' game at Northwestern, Maddox tallied a season-high 12 points after shooting 4-for-5 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. In Maddox' freshman season, the guard played in 15 games off the bench for the 22-9 squad that would have made the NCAA Tournament had it not been cancelled. She put up a career-high 14 points versus Coppin State, which included four 3-pointers.
