YPSILANTI, Mich. – For the first time in school history, the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team is off to a 7-1 start. The Owls destroyed Eastern Michigan by a final score of 101-73 on Sunday afternoon for their sixth win in a row and the program's best start in history.
Â
Prior to this season, FAU's best start was a 6-1 mark in head coach Dusty May's first season with the team, which was 2018-19. The six-game winning streak is also the longest for FAU since the 2010-11 season, in which the Owls won eight consecutive games at one point.
                            Â
FAU exploded for 60 points in the second half to cruise to the big win after going into the locker room with a 41-31 edge. The 101 points mark the first time that FAU has passed the century mark since the win over FIU on Jan. 16, 2021. The Owls shot a remarkable 60% (39-of-65) from the field and 50% (12-of-24) from 3-point range.
Â
Bryan Greenlee led the way for FAU with an outstanding performance, scoring a team-high 23 points, while only missing once (10-of-11) shooting from the field. By going 10-of-11 (90.9%), Greenlee ties for the second-highest field goal percentage in a single game in FAU history (with a minimum of 9 made shots.)
Â
Greenlee also added five rebounds and four assists and connected on all three of his 3-pointers. The junior guard was only two points off of his career high, which came in the 2020-21 season during his first game with the Owls.
