Owls Start Strong at Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up the first day of the Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason, on Thursday. It was a strong showing in both the preliminaries and finals by both the men and women on the Owls. Through day one, the men are on top in their field with 320 points, while the women are third in their field with 232 points.

Men

The men currently place in first with 320 points
The Owls saved the best for the last event of the night, setting an FAU record in the 400 medley relay. The team (Jackson Kirk, Dalton Lillibridge, Alec Peckmann, Logan Thornsberry) finished in second with a new school best time of 3:14.20
Peckmann crushed the 200 IM with a first-place time of 1:47.91, this was ticks away from the very record Peckmann set in last year's Patriot Invite
Timo Paisley took the gold in the 500 free (4:28.66). Cameron Speed (4:32.24) and Thornsberry (4:32.38) placed in fourth and fifth, respectively, to round out the top five
The 200 free relay team (Maximiliano Ahumada, Rateb Hussein, Peckmann, Peter Tanner Jr.) finished in third place with a time of 1:21.21

Women

The women's side had a solid showing with 232 points so far, good for third place
Kirsten Hobson swam to a second-place finish in the 500 free (4:57.91) The rest of the top 10 was full of Owls, with Maggie Casey (4:59.55) placing in fourth, Kasia Szlek (5:00.12) in fifth, and Maddy Archer (5:05.59) in seventh
Roberta Circi placed in third in the 200 IM (2:02.47)
The 200 free relay team (Julia Earnshaw, Jacqueline Grabowski, Lydia Lanahan, Amelia Robertson) finished in third place with a time of 1:34.17
The 400 medley relay team (Circi, Earnshaw, Dolores Margni, Robertson) reached third place with a time of 3:47.72

On Deck

The Owls are set for day two out of the three at the Patriot Invitational. The preliminary events will begin tomorrow at 10 a.m.
