MIAMI – Florida Atlantic volleyball (13-13, 3-11 C-USA) fought hard against rival FIU (8-20, 5-9 C-USA), falling in four sets to close out the Owls' regular season on Saturday at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
The Owls took the first two points of the match off a kill from
Valeria Rosado and a Panther error, but a 6-1 FIU run gave the Panthers a 6-3 lead early in the first. Following a 12-9 FIU lead, the Owls scored seven unanswered off back-to-back service aces from
Katelynn Robine and kills from Rosado and Robine to give FAU a four-point lead, 16-12. However, FIU responded once again with a 9-2 run to retake the lead at 21-18. FAU looked to rally bringing the game within a point at 21-20, but the Panthers outscored the Owls 4-2 to close out the set and five FIU the opening lead, 25-22.
FIU took a 7-3 lead to open the second. The Owls got two back off a kill from
Noelle Stephens and a Panther attack error, but a 12-1 FIU run broke things open to put the Panthers up 19-6. The Owls locked in to produce an 8-2 run of their own to cut the deficit down to seven, 21-14, but the two teams traded kills over the rest of the set as the Panthers would take the second and hold the 2-0 advantage.
The Owls and the Panthers battled through 10 ties to a 12-12 stalemate halfway through the third. FIU tallied to go up 14-12, but the Owls outscored FIU 9-1, capped off by a back-to-back Zarnovicka kills, to put FAU in front by six, 21-15. The Owls closed out the set, going point-for-point with the Panthers to take the third and force a fourth, 25-19.
After a 14-14 tie, the Panthers scored four in a row to take an 18-14 lead. The Owls responded on a 9-5 run to close the gap and bring things even at 23 after another kill from Zarnovicka. FAU held set point at 25 and 26, but a 3-0 FIU run closed out the match to give the Panthers the 3-1 win.

- Noelle Stephens surpassed 1,000 career assists and Valeria surpassed 500 career kills in the contest
- Three Owls scored in double-figures, led by Katelynn Robine with 15 kills
- Klara Zarnovicka posted her second double-double of the season with a team second-best 14 kills and 10 digs, in addition to adding a match-high four blocks.
- Nono Stephens recorded a team-high 42 assists
- Camryn Vogler led the Owls with 14 digs
