MIAMI – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the first of two days on Friday at the TYR Fall Classic, hosted by Florida International Univeristy. The opening day of the meet was dominated by the Owls as they sit at the top of team combined scores with 485 total points. The afternoon was highlighted by seven finishes in second place on the men's side and two first place finishes for the women. Â

Men
- The men currently place in second out of six teams with 245 points
- Alec Peckmann finished in second place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:09.69
- Logan Thornsberry placed in second in the 200 free (1:41.65)
- Rateb Hussein earned second place in the 100 fly (49.55)
- Jackson Kirk joined the second-place finishers in the 50 free with a time 21.25)
- Dalton Lillbridge was the fifth Owl of the night to finish in second, this time in the 100 breast (56.27)
- Max Ahumada captured second place in the with a time of 52.24 in the 100 back
- The men's "A" team (Ahumada, Lillibridge, Hussein, Payne Smith) placed third in the 400 medley relay (3:24.40)
- The men ended the night with their seventh finish in second place, this time in the 200 free relay. The "A" team (Hussein, Kirk, Peckmann, Smith) stopped the clock at a time of 1:23.10Â
Women
- The women's side tallied a total of 240Â points, trailing only FIU
- Amelia Robertson won first place in the 100 back (56.79)
- Riley Trout took third place in the 400 IM (4:38.36)
- Dolores Margni captured third in the 100 fly (57.59)
- Avery Floyd placed third in the 100 breast (1:08.19)
- Julia Earnshaw earned fourth place in the 200 free (1:54.30)
- Lydia Lanahan (24.41) and Jacqueline Grabowski (25.08) finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the 50 free.
- Alicia Mora finished in second place in the 3 meter dive with a score 276
- The women's "A" team (Roberta Circi, Earnshaw, Lanahan, Margni) won the 200 free medley with a time of 1:36.19 Â
- In the 400 medley relay, the women's "A" team (Robertson, Avery Floyd, Circi, Lanahan) finished in second place (3:52.17)

The Owls will compete in the second and final day of the TYR Classic on Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m.
