JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's soccer topped Troy, 2-0, in a neutral site Sunday match.
 How It Happened:
FAU (2-3-1) took the lead in the 32nd minute on a goal by Bri Austin, assisted by Erin McRae. That score held into the half. A late goal off a corner kick, with Jodi Smith putting it in from Emma Grissom in the 80th minute, extended the lead and allowed the Owls to push past the Trojans (2-3-0).
Notables:
Austin notched her team-leading third goal; for Smith, a true freshman defender, it was her first career tally
McRae and Grissom each recorded their first assist of the year
Amit Cohen came away with her second clean sheet on the young season
Quotable:
"2-0 win, which was nice, it's our second shutout since opening night," said head coach Patrick Baker. "Bri (Austin) got us on the board with a wonderful goal midway through the first half, and then Jodi Smith scored her first college goal with a rip from the top of the 18 off a secondary corner kick chance. At points and times, pleased with the performance … we made it through injury-free, we got a number of players into the game. (We're) going into the last week of non-conference play with a win, and hopefully pick up some momentum before we play two really good teams in USF and Florida Gulf Coast."
