DENTON, Texas – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team (10-7), seeded No. 5 at the 2021 Conference C-USA Championship, fell 4-1 to the tournament's No. 1 seed Old Dominion, ranked No. 34 nationally.
The battle began with doubles play, where the Owls played their best doubles' tennis of the shortened season, ultimately surrendering the match's first point, but not before the FAU duo of
Radka Buzkova and
Martina Kudelova took court No. 1 over the nation's 60th best duo. Shortly after, the FAU No. 2 duo of
Natalia Boltinskaya and Louie McLeland pushed No. 76 ODU duo to a tiebreak-decision, falling 7-6 (7-3), which awarded the doubles point to the Monarchs.
ODU started singles play strong, but quickly turned with every point hard to come by. Courts 1-3 showcased nationally-ranked players. FAU's Buzkova captured court No. 4 in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 for the Owls' lone point.
