CORAL GABLES, Florida – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team (8-6) fell 6-1 to the No. 23 University of Miami (12-7, 8-5 ACC) on Friday. The match was the first of two tune-up matches prior to leaving for the Conference USA Championships, scheduled for April 22-25.

Miami captured the doubles point and secured the best-of-seven win at 4-0 with wins on courts three, one and six. Martina Kudelova was the next to come off, pushing her court two opponent ranked No. 17 nationally to a second-set tiebreaker. Sophomore Katerina Filip captured the Owls' first and only point with a three-set win on court five, and fellow sophomore Radka Buzkova fell after a close match – 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (1-7), 1-0 (10-5) – on court four.

"The team did fair today against Miami," said Caroline Wheelen, FAU's head coach. "Katerina [Filip] really stood out with her energy and support. Radka [Buzkova] did an amazing job fighting until the end."
