Shaw Makes $500,000 Gift Commitment to FAU Athletics

BOCA RATON – Dr. Eric Shaw ('72, 73), Emeritus Professor of Marketing at FAU, has made a $500,000 gift commitment to the Paradise Club.
Shaw's gift will establish the Dr. Eric H. Shaw Student-Athlete Excellence in Academic Performance Award. The award will be established to reward and recognize Owl athletes who demonstrate academic excellence.
With this and other gifts he is making throughout FAU, Shaw's philanthropic giving now ranks second among faculty/staff donors in the history of the university.
"I participated in the early development of the Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence during my six years as Faculty Athletics Representative and 15-plus years on FAU intercollegiate athletics committees," Shaw said. "I am so proud of our student-athletes, who work so intensely at practice and study so rigorously at academics to achieve success on the playing fields and in the classrooms, that I'm honored to create a competition awarding our best and brightest with a full-tuition scholarship to attend graduate school."
FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White announced Shaw's gift to FAU Athletics Thursday morning.
"We could not be more grateful to Dr. Shaw for his support and vision for this award and the gift to fund it," White said. "This is yet another example of the incredible generosity of those connected to Florida Atlantic University."
