BOCA RATON, Fla. – Daniel Skistad and
Vasilis Spinos of the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team have been tabbed to the 11-person Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced by the league Friday. This marks Skistad's second consecutive year receiving the award and the first of its kind for Spinos.

Daniel Skistad
Skistad was one of three repeat selections after being tabbed to the spring 2021 C-USA All-Academic Team. That same season, Skistad was a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team recipient and CoSIDA Academic All-District Team choice. A regular on the President's List and Dean's List, Skistad graduated summa cum laude with a 3.92 GPA with a double major in international business and business management in the spring. He is now enrolled in the MBA program, which recognizes superior academic performance by granting baccalaureate degrees of distinction to undergraduate students.
Â
On the pitch, Skistad has started in four of nine games he has appeared in. The defender has logged two assists on the season and has played a role in four shutouts. Last season, Skistad played in all games to help the team achieve its lowest goals against average (0.92) and goals allowed (11) in a single season. A four-year player, the Drammen, Norway product has started in 43 of 51 career games at FAU.

Vasilis Spinos
Spinos is a first-time selection, contributing to big accomplishments on the pitch and in the classroom. An economics major, Spinos posts a 3.84 GPA to boast one of the highest GPAs on the team. Spinos has started in 14 of 15 matches this season. He has logged one goal, the game-winner in the Owls' 5-2 win at Houston Baptist, and tallied two assists this season. Spinos has played eight games without a substitution to post the second most minutes on the team and is a leader on the backline, which has helped the Owls come up with four cleansheets this season.
Â
In the spring, Spinos was tabbed to the All-C-USA Freshman Team. He played eight of 10 games in the spring without a substitution while making his name known across the league. Spinos was also a big factor in the Owls limiting opponents to 11 total goals and a 0.92 goals against average, both program records, in spring 2021.
Â
FAU is set to play its final regular season game tonight at No. 12 Kentucky. First touch is set at 7 p.m. with the game being broadcast on ESPN+.
