BOCA RATON, Fla. –
Stephanie Young, a junior captain on the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team, has earned Conference USA All-Academic honors, as announced by the league on Monday.
Head Coach Fernanda Nelson
"We are so proud of Stephanie. She is our team's captain and she works so hard to be the best she can be both on and off the court. Stephanie is an amazing person that I'm very blessed to have the opportunity to coach and to be a part of her life.
Young has the attitude every coach dreams about. She will do anything that will help the team. If it is serving as the team's primary setter, she does. If it is being a part of a six-two offense, no problem. If it is playing outside, easy. And as evident by this award, academics is never an issue.
This season while playing multiple roles, Young appeared in 80 sets over 24 matches. She was responsible for 54.5 points, averaged 4.63 assists per game, tallied 25 aces for an average of 0.31 per set and was responsible for keeping the ball in play 143 times for 1.79 digs per set. Her game at the net included 11 total blocks.
