BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (6-4-2, 1-2-2 in Conference USA) dropped Saturday night's contest to Charlotte (8-4, 3-2 C-USA), 5-1. FAU fell in a hole early and was unable to outmatch the 49ers.
Filip Jauk scored the Owls' lone goal to mark his seventh of the season.

First Half
Charlotte dominated the first half, outshooting FAU 10-2. The Owls fell in a 2-0 deficit 26 minutes into the game, as Charlotte scored goals in the 23rd and 26th minute. Charlotte tacked onto its lead at the 44th minute, as Preston Popp came up with a takeaway and connected with the back of the net. FAU was down 3-0 at the half.

Second Half
FAU was much more aggressive in the second half, outshooting Charlotte 12-6.
Micael Lervik had the best chance for the Owls at the 49th minute, as his shot was just off target and wide left. The Owls had a handful of great looks, including a pair from
Ivan Mykhailenko, but FAU was unable to connect. At the 72nd minute, Popp stole the ball away once again, this time in the Owls backfield, to score his second goal of the game to lead the Owls 4-0. FAU didn't go away emptyhanded, as
Jose Alastuey took a corner kick at the 87th minute to find Jauk in the box who headed the ball in. Charlotte got another lucky opportunity with one second remaining in the game to get their fifth goal of the night.

- Alastuey captured his second assist of the season and now is tied for the second most points on the team (10)
- Mykhailenko logged four shots, three on goal
- Strauber recorded six saves on the night

The Owls will go back on the road to face UAB on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern. FAU will play its final home game, Senior Day, on Saturday, Oct. 30 at noon against FIU.
