Volleyball Alumni Andonova, Paiva Named to ASUN All-Decade Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference has announced its All-Decade (2000-09) Team. Former Florida Atlantic University volleyball players Iana Andonova and Kelly Paiva made the squad. Â

The Owls were members of the ASUN from 1993 to 2005, accumulating a conference record of 70-38 (.648) in their 13 seasons. FAU was especially impressive in their final eight years as an ASUN member, posting a 54-21 (.720) conference record, winning three regular season titles (1998, 2004 and 2005), three ASUN Tournament titles (1998, 1999 and 2005) and making three NCAA Tournament appearances (1998, 1999 and 2005). Â

To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections, multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year honors or ASUN Hall of Famer. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Tournament MVP/Freshman/Defensive Player/Libero/Scholar-Athlete of the Year, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections.

Iana Andonova
Honors: 2002 ASUN Freshman of the Year, 2004 ASUN Player of the Year, 2004 AVCA All-Region, 2004 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American (first in school history)
Record Book: She is still first in career kills (1,535), third in sets played (420), fourth in career service aces (142), 10th in career hitting percentage (.250, graduated fourth) and 10th in career block assists (204, graduated sixth). Her 2004 season ranks among the program's all-time best single-season totals in kills (second, 483), hitting percentage (fourth, .336), and service aces (seventh, 48).

Kelly Paiva
Honors: 2004 ASUN All-Conference Second Team, 2005 ASUN Player of the Year, 2005 ASUN Tournament MVP, 2005 AVCA All-Region, 2005 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American
Record Book: Her 674 kills during the 2005 season is still the school's single-season record, while her 401 in 2004 is tied for sixth place. Her 1,109 career kills places her third in FAU history. She also holds the school record for kills in a match, notching 34 vs. Eastern Washington.
