Sigourney Kame Receives 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Former Florida Atlantic University volleyball player Sigourney Kame has been awarded the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award.
Kame, who graduated in the Spring of 2020 with a cumulative GPA of 3.905 in exercise science and health promotion, is a native of Paramaribo, Suriname and is currently working in the medical field and coaching club volleyball.
The 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award is just the latest honor bestowed up the former Owl, who was candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award. She is a Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member, a two-time C-USA First team selection (2018 and 2017), a Second Team 2019 C-USA honoree, a 2016 C-USA freshman team awardee, an AVCA All-Region team member and is third among FAU's all-time kill leaders, with 1,171 career kills.
While a student-athlete she was actively involved with her church and was a Boca Helping Hands volunteer as well as working with A.D. Henderson School.
The 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives (1A FAR) is an organization of faculty athletics representatives at NCAA Division I institutions in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The mission of 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives is to advocate for effective interaction and academic and fiscal balance between an institution's academic mission and its intercollegiate program.
