BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's basketball head coach
Jim Jabir has announced the team's 2020-21 full schedule. The schedule involves 11 home games played at Abessinio Court at FAU Arena with attendance being limited for all contests.
The Owls will open up play at home against North Florida on Monday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. Following the home opener, FAU will hit the road to face Miami (Thursday, Dec. 3) and Florida (Monday, Dec. 7). The Owls will close out the non-conference slate and 2020 with a home matchup against Florida Memorial on Friday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.
FAU will play
a new 18-game season format for Conference USA play this season. In the format, the Owls will play two games per visit at four different C-USA schools, host four select teams for a two-game series and play in-state rival FIU for a one-time home and away series. All conference games will be played on back-to-back days, Fridays and Saturdays.
The Owls will ring in the new year and begin conference play on the road at Middle Tennessee on Jan. 1 and 2. The Owls will then host Old Dominion on Jan. 8 and 9 for FAU's home conference series opener. All of FAU's home conference games will have a tipoff time at 5 p.m. on Fridays and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
FAU's other home contests include: FIU (Friday, Jan. 15), Marshall (Jan. 29-30), UTSA (Feb. 12-13) and Southern Miss (Feb. 26-27).
FAU will hit the road at FIU (Saturday, Jan. 16), Charlotte (Jan. 22-23), WKU (Feb. 5-6) and UTEP (Feb. 19-20). March 6-7 will be used as makeup dates in the event of a game needing to be postponed.
The C-USA Championship will be held from March 10-13 at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The top 12 teams in the standings will qualify for the tournament.
