Justin Burrowes is showcasing his skills on an international stage this week at the Latin American Amateur Championship.
The tournament is being held at the El Camaleon Golf Club in Mayakoba, Mexico and runs Jan. 16-19.
Burrowes is FAU's lone participant.
The Masters Tournament, the R&A and the USGA established the LAAC in 2014 to promote amateur golf development in the region.
In addition to a championship trophy, the LAAC winner receives an invite to the Masters Tournament. They will also get exceptions into the R&A Amateur Championship, all USGA Amateur Tournaments, The Open qualifying series and sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open.
One of two Jamaican participants, Burrowes hopes to become the first player from his country to win the LAAC. Burrowes, one of Jamaica's best amateur golfers, won the 2018 and '19 Caribbean and Jamaican Junior Championships.
Burrowes finished seven-over-par in Round 1.
He tees off Round 2 on Friday at 12:33 p.m, with the final two rounds slated for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
