BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team held Louisville scoreless in the first half before succumbing to 3-0 loss on Friday night at FAU Soccer Stadium.
The first half was fruitless for both teams with no goals. The Owls had three shots in the period from
Jose Alastuey,
Alonso Coello Camarero and
Ivan Mykhailenko.
The second half featured more shot production for both teams, but the Cardinals made good on three of them. The first goal came from a penalty kick after a foul in the box by the Owls. Louisville tacked on two more goals to close out the half.
- Goalkeeper Hagay Jalon had four saves in the match, including a diving save in the second half that at the time kept the Cardinals scoreless
- Alastuey and Axel Pantaleon led the Owls in shots with two each
- Pantaleon, Mateo Pieschacon and Alex Alexis each had a shot on goal for the Owls
- The Owls edged Louisville in corner kicks, 6-3
The Owls will be back at FAU Soccer Stadium on Tuesday against Jacksonville at 7 p.m. Admission is free for the match as well as all matches this season.
