BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team has been named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team for earning a combined team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2018-19 academic year.
"I'm really excited about our growth in the classroom last year," said head coach
Ryan Jamison. "To be over a 3.1 and to carry a competitive schedule at the same time is a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes in and out of the classroom. I look forward to the future success of our guys this upcoming year."
Under Jamison, the Owls have put a focus on academic success alongside success on the links. In just one season, the team's GPA improved over 0.50. It marks the first time FAU has been named to the GCAA All-Academic Team since at least the 2006-07 season, according to the organization's online records.
Rising-senior
Sully Zagerman exemplified the added emphasis on academics and community service. Zagerman was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team and received the Male Community Service award at the annual Owlspy's for completing the most community service hours of any male athlete on FAU's campus.
