Dance Finishes in Nation’s Top Five for Third Consecutive Year

The Florida Atlantic University dance team claimed a fifth place finish at the 2019 National Collegiate Dance Championships, Team Performance Division 1-A, which concluded Friday, April 5 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The dance team received a Bronze Bid at their NDA home camp in August 2018, which allowed them to be entered into the team performance division. The division preliminaries included 13 teams, FAU among them. The Owls' dance team advanced to finals sitting in seventh place. On day two of the finals, the FAU dance team improved their prelims score by 2.58 points and finished the competition in fifth place. This is the third consecutive year that the FAU dance team has finished among the nation's top five in the Team Performance Division 1A.
"To be a top contender for the past three years at the collegiate level in itself is a great achievement," said Claudia Soto-Vaca, FAU's head spirit coach.
"This team is a true example of what hard work and dedication can accomplish."
