BOCA RATON, Fla. – The incoming class for the 2019 Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team continues to grow, with the seventh newest member of the squad announced on Friday, in incoming freshman defender and native of Germany, Luisa Daikeler.
Daikeler is a member of VFL Wolfsburg II, starting six matches and scoring two goals for them this past winter. Additionally, she also has caps under her belt as part of the U19 German National Team, representing her home country during the UEFA U19 Championship. She hails from Wolfsburg, Germany and is an experienced centerback.
Why Daikeler chose FAU: "Choosing FAU has been of the most exciting and my biggest decision so far! However, it has been one of the easiest decisions, since Coach Baker and FAU made me feel very comfortable from the very beginning. For my future at FAU, I wish for sunny days in Florida, great wins with my future teammates and I hope I can help FAU to win some more championships and break records."
Coach Baker on Daikeler: "We are very excited to announce the signing of Luisa Daikeler to Florida Atlantic University for the fall of 2019. Luisa plays for VFL Wolfsburg II in the 2nd Bundesliga and is a current member of the U19 German National Team. She is an excellent defender and primarily plays centerback for club and country. Luisa is a wonderful player who is confident in her abilities at the highest of levels. She is very good on the ball and shows calmness under pressure. Many speak of her leadership abilities and we look forward to her enjoying a great career here in Boca Raton. Luisa also possesses pace, quality range of passing and a strong aerial ability. Needless to say, many schools wanted Luisa and we feel great she chose FAU to continue her soccer and academic careers. We look forward to competing for another C-USA title with her this fall."
Daikeler will join fellow newcomers Ashley Grisley, Madison McElhone, Mia Omar, Mia Sennes, Molly Setsma, and Myla Sharpless on campus this summer, ahead of the 2019 campaign.
