Women's Golf Wraps Up First Day of Tar Heel Classic

LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic – The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team wrapped up the first day of the Tar Heel Classic at Teeth of the Dog course in the Dominican Republic. After two rounds, the Owls are in 14th place playing against tough field of 13 top-100 teams.

GOLF FORE AFRICA
All this season the Owls will be teaming up with Golf Fore Africa to raise money for clean water in rural Africa. The team's goal is to raise enough money to build a well for a village in Zambia, providing clean water for an entire community.
One well costs $15,000 to build and brings clean water to 300 people for life. Just a $50 donation brings clean water to one person for a lifetime. To date, Golf Fore Africa has built 160 wells and FAU is looking to be the first collegiate program to raise complete funding for a well.

QUICK HITS
- The Owls carded 308 for the first round and 319 for the second, for a 51-over par score so far through the tournament
- Arielle Keating led the way for the Owls, shooting a 73 for the first round and 80 in the second to finish 9-over for the day. She leads the team with 26 par scores, tied for the third most in the tournament. She'll go into the final round tied for 51st place overall
- Amanda Leslie is the second FAU golfer on the leaderboard, tied for 56th. She carded a pair of 77's for the first and second rounds, to end the day 10-over
- Taylor Morgan took two strokes off her score in the second round. She shot an 80 in the first and followed that up with a 78 in the second to finish 14-over and tied for 67th
- Tai Barber had an 80 in the first round and scored an 84 in the second
- Rosa Barnak carded a 79 in the first round, but had a rough second round with an 89
- Barnak, Morgan and Leslie each have four birdies through two rounds of play
