Dusty May Named Joe B. Hall Award Finalist

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic head men's basketball coach Dusty May has been named one of 12 national finalists for the Joe B. Hall Award.

The award, sponsored by CollegeInsider.com, goes to the best first year head coach in Division I, as voted on by the award committee. In his first year at helm, May has led the Owls to nonconference wins over UCF and Illinois in addition to their most Conference USA wins ever and their first winning season since 2010-11.

Hall, who the award is named after, served as head coach at Kentucky from 1973-85, where he won four SEC titles and the 1978 National Championship. The winner will be announced at the College Insider Awards Event on April 5 in Minneapolis, site of the Final Four.

The Owls are the No. 9 seed for the C-USA tournament and will play eighth-seeded Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. Eastern. The game will air on ESPN+ and live audio will be available on ESPN 106.3 FM, ESPNWestPalm.com or via smartphone using the free ESPN app.
