Xavian Stapleton was named Conference USA Co-Sixth Man of the Year on Tuesday. The announcement was made in advance of the Conference USA tournament, which begins on Wednesday, March 13 in Frisco, Texas. He is the first FAU men's basketball player to earn an individual superlative since Brett Royster was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. Stapleton has appeared in 24 games, averaging 13.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He is shooting 45.8 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from 3-point range. After missing time due to injury, Stapleton returned for conference play and is averaging 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 46.8 percent, including 39.2 percent from behind the arc, in less than 22 minutes per game.
The Owls are the No. 9 seed for the C-USA tournament and will play eighth-seeded Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. Eastern. The game will air on ESPN+ and live audio will be available on ESPN 106.3 FM, ESPNWestPalm.com or via smartphone using the free ESPN app.
