BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team (6-5) dropped the FAU Holiday Classic consolation game against Harvard (8-4) on Sunday. The game was back and forth for multiple stints in the contest with nine different lead changes and the score tied five times, but the Owls were outscored 20-13 in the fourth to fall to the Crimson, 65-51.

The Owls trailed Harvard by as many as five in the first quarter, but back-to-back layups made by
Amber Gaston and two free throws by
Juliette Gauthier pulled the Owls ahead by one point with 49 seconds left in the frame. Harvard then made a 3-pointer to re-claim the lead, as the Owls trailed 19-17.

In the second quarter, the Crimson extended their lead to four to open up the quarter, but a 3-pointer by
Lotta Vehka-Aho and
Astou Gaye's dominance in the paint for a layup pulled the Owls ahead by one. With the Owls up 28-24 with 2:58 left in the half, Harvard tied the game with back-to-back layups. Prior to the half, Harvard took the lead once again, as the Owls went into the locker room trailing, 31-30.

The Owls got off to a slow in the second half, as they took 3:57 to score. Two straight 3-pointers by Gauthier helped the Owls go on a six point run, but that did not last for long, as nine straight points scored by the Crimson put the Owls down 45-38 at end of the frame.

As FAU was looking to comeback from an eight-point deficit, the Owls got off to a slow start in the fourth, taking 5:35 to score. The Owls were down by as many as 21, but
Tanyia Gordon put up a 3-point basket to score the Owls' first basket of the quarter. FAU would end up being outscored by the Crimson 20-13 in the fourth, dropping the tilt, 65-51.

- Crystal Primm had her ninth double-digit scoring game, scoring 10 points and adding six boards and three steals
- Vehka-Aho put up 10 points, four assists and two rebounds
- Gauthier scored 10 points, going 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, while adding six boards and two steals
- Gaye was crashing the boards with eight rebounds
- Alexa Zaph captured eight points and two assists and boards, a piece
- Gordon totaled five points and four rebounds

The Owls will open up Conference USA play on the road at UTSA on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. Eastern. FAU will finish out the weekend at UTEP with tipoff at 3 p.m. Eastern.
