Massiel Matos Named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention

Senior is First Two-time All-Region Honoree in School History

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University outside hitter Massiel Matos was selected as a Honorable Mention All-South Region selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday. She is the first two-time All-Region honoree in program history.

Matos was recently named First Team All-Conference USA for the second year in a row. She also led the team in kills (293), kills per set (3.08) and service aces (32) for the second straight season, while recording a team-high 17 matches with double-digit kills.

The All-Region teams were chosen by AVCA member coaches from each region, and all honorees are eligible for the AVCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Dec. 18.
