BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team is coming off one of the best fall seasons in the program's history. On Wednesday, the team got even better with the addition of Olivia Bergner, who signed a National Letter of Intent to attend FAU beginning in the Fall of 2020.
"I'm excited to have Ollie join our Owl family," said head women's golf coach
Aimee Neff. "She is a competitor who can flat play, and even more so, a young woman with a great head on her shoulders. I believe her maturity on and off the course will be an asset to our program. We can't wait to have her on campus next fall!"
Bergner is a three-time participant in the German Team Championship (2017-19). She captured the event in both 2017 and 2019 and finished third in 2018. In 2018, Bergner also played in the German Championship U17 event where she set a course record and finished the tournament just behind the medalist. The International Matchplay Trophy winner is also a member of the German National Squad. She is listed among the 2019 Top 10 Scottish girls and shot a low round of -7 (65) in 2019.
Bergner will join a team that is currently comprised of three international players. The Owls played in four fall tournaments and came away with three finishes among the top six. That included the final tournament, the Pat Bradley Invitational, where FAU finished second.
The Owls will return to competition Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 when they play host to a two-day event at Osprey Point.
