Men’s Golf Sits Atop the Leaderboard

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (October 7, 2019) – The scores are in after round one of a three-round event, with Florida Atlantic University leading the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational Field at +4.
The event, hosted by West Virginia, is being played at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The par-72, 7,308-yard course is challenging the efforts of 15 college teams: host West Virginia, Southern Miss, James Madison, Xavier, Davidson, Connecticut, Washington State, Rice, George Washington, Youngstown, Towson, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Akron, and FAU
The Owls teed off Monday morning with the hope of completing two rounds. With darkness setting in, the second round is not expected to be completed; however, round one was a good one for the Owls, who shot a team total of 292. That's two shots ahead of WVU and eight shots in front of Southern Miss, which sits in third.
