– The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming and diving team will be back in action this weekend for the TYR Fall Classic Presented by Omega Timing. This two-day meet held at FIU's Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center features eight different teams and will commence on Friday at 4 p.m., with the second day of races taking place on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Last year, the TYR Classic marked the second away meet of the season for the Owls, with the women finishing in seventh (237 points) and the men taking away a fifth-place finish (369 points). FAU posted multiple top-three finishes on the weekend, which was highlighted by an individual win in the 200 butterfly for Atkins (2:02.25), who also claimed second in the 500 freestyle (4:59.68) and third in the 100 butterfly (56.73). Westbrook also tallied a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (52.44).

The swimming & diving team got the 2019-20 season rolling with their home opener against No. 5 Florida last weekend. On the women's side, second place finishes were achieved by
Abby Marshall in the 100 backstroke (57.77) and
Fatimah Westbrook in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.99).
Molly Jordan (200 butterfly),
Mackenzie Brown (50 freestyle) and
Sharon Kok (500 freestyle) also finished third in their respective races.

For the men,
Rateb Hussein completed third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:40.22) and 100 butterfly (49.69), which earned him the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Male Swimmer of the Week.
Kyle Douglas also finished third in the 200 IM (1:55.44).

On the boards, in her first collegiate meet,
Alicia Mora took second in the 3-meter (274.04) and third in the 1-meter (260.10).
Malvina Catalano already qualified for Zones in the 1-meter after her second-place finish in the event (275.32). To pick up where he left off last season,
Michael Cannatelli scored a second-place finish in the 3-meter (315.37), which beat his previous personal best by 40 points to receive CCSA Male Diver of the Week.
