BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team finished fifth among 11 teams at the Jupiter Women's Invitational. The two-day, three-round tournament was hosted by FAU and played at Jonathan's Landing Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida.
Fellow Conference USA member and in-state foe FIU captured the tournament shooting a team best 886. The Owls finished fifth with a 901 after shooting a first round total of 294.
"We learn something each time we tee it up and this tournament was no exception," said
Aimee Neff, FAU's head women's golf coach. "I was impressed with freshman,
Justine Fournand's play and her third-place finish. She put together three solid rounds of golf and gave herself a chance to win. As a team, we left quite a few strokes out there and for that reason I am glad we have a quick turnaround before we compete again this weekend at FIU's Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch."
- Freshman Justine Fournand led the Owls with a 214 three-round total (69-73-72) to finish third
- Kim Egozi also finished in the tournament's top-20 shooting 73, slipping with a 79 and rebounding with a 75, for a tournament total of 227 and 19th place finish
- Amanda Leslie carded a 233 (75-76-82) and tied for 33rd
- The final two tournament Owls tied with each other shooting a 235 for a 40th place finish. Taylor Morgan had rounds of 81-73-81 while Arielle Keating shot 77-75-83
The Owls will travel to Lakewood Ranch, Fla. and Lakewood Ranch Country Club where they will play in the Pat Bradley Invitational starting Sunday, Oct. 20 and concluding Oct. 22nd.
