BOCA RATON, Fla. Â -Â A cold shooting day from the floor led to the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team losing to Charlotte 65-60 on Saturday. The loss snapped what had been a seven-game home winning streak for FAU. The Owls fell to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in Conference USA.
The Start
Both teams struggled offensively, with neither side able to consistently find the hoop in the early going. The 49ers had the largest lead of the first half at five, 18-13, with 7:23 left in the stanza, but the Owls quickly rallied to level the score. Anthony Adger hit a three-pointer just before the buzzer to pull FAU even at 24 headed to halftime.

The Turning Point
Another Adger three pushed the Owls' lead to four early in the second half. At that point, Charlotte went on a 16-7 run to take a 46-41 advantage. A Xavian Stapleton turnaround jumper and a Kevaughn Ellis triple tied the score at 46-46.

The Finish
The 49ers scored 18 of the game's next 23 points that helped the clinch the win. FAU trimmed the margin down to as little as four, but ultimately ran out of time.
Notables
·         As a team, the Owls shot 33.3 percent from the floor, while Charlotte made 50 percent of their shot attempts
·         Stapleton led FAU with 17 points, adding five rebounds, two steals and two blocks
·         Adger scored 15 points, dished out five assists and snagged a steal
