Florida Atlantic University's women's tennis welcomed five newcomers to the team on Monday, with the beginning of the Spring semester. Just four days later, the young Owls traveled to Tallahassee, Florida where they fell to No. 15 Florida State University, 7-0.

FAU opened the season at 11 a.m. with the weather in the mid 50's, some 20 degrees cooler than the Owls' home court in Boca Raton, Florida. Four of the five newcomers saw action filling position numbers 2-5.

The Turning Point

FAU quickly dropped the doubles point, falling in positions 1 and 3. The No. 2 doubles duo did not to finish their match as FSU had claimed the lone double point winning 2-of-3
Each of the singles matches were played in their entirety despite the Seminoles recording the necessary points at positions 2, 1 and 5
At No. 1 singles FAU's Natalia Boltinskaya, ranked No. 88 nationally, fell to No. 39 Carla Touley in straight sets
Newcomer Barbora Palcatova was the last Owl to surrender a point after a hard-fought match at No. 3, where she fell to No. 125 Ana Oparenovic
