Holmes of Women’s Soccer Awarded for Play with Club Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's soccer forward Elisha Holmes, who plied her craft this summer for the Tampa Bay United of the Women's Premier Soccer League, has received two honors while a member of that squad: Sunshine Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and as a member of the Sunshine All-Conference Team.
Holmes, just entering into her third year with at FAU, helped lead the United to a 5-1-1 mark and a Sunshine Conference Championship, the club's second in a row and sixth in the last seven years.
"I am very honored to be recognized," said Holmes. "Doing the WPSL league has reconnected me with my old teammates and has helped me in my development as a player. The people and coaches that surrounded the program has made it unbelievably fun and competitive. I am extremely blessed for the opportunity to play and receive (these) awards."
"We are excited for Elisha to receive recognition for her summer performances with Tampa Bay United," added FAU Head Coach Patrick Baker. "Elisha being named All-Conference, Offensive Player of the Year and All-Region is a great accomplishment for her. She has worked hard in first two years at FAU and the benefits are really paying off for her. Hopefully her summer success leads right into a very productive fall season for her."
"Elisha had a tremendous season for us," said George Fotopolous, head coach of Tampa Bay United. "She was one the most dangerous and most dynamic players in the WPSL. Her Player of the Year honor was truly deserved and we were so blessed to have her play for the TBU women this season."
