BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team fell in a 4-3 battle to Columbia on Friday.
- The Lions took the doubles point, depsite the duo of Aliona Bolsova/Marisa Ruiz winning in No. 1 doubles 6-2
- No. 6 Bolsova improved to 13-0 this spring at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Christie Wan
- After Columbia extended the lead to 3-1, dealing losses to Natalia Boltinskaya 6-2, 6-3 and Jennifer Leib 6-1, 6-1, the Owls mounted a comeback
- Senior Marisa Ruiz beat Sarah Hu 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 3 slot to cut the advantage to 3-2
- JaCara Gillis then tied the match with her 7-5, 7-5 victory over Ali Pollack, forcing the match to come down to the No. 4 singles battle
- Kristen Thoms fell in the first set to Andrea Kevakian 6-3 before bouncing back for a 6-2 win in the second, but Kevakian won the third 6-3 to seal the match for Columbia
