FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team defeated Florida Gulf Coast in a demanding four-set (25-19, 31-29, 17-25, 32-30) affair on Saturday. The match was FAU's final tilt at the FGCU Homewood Suites Classic. The Owls are now 4-2 on the season.

FAU used strong serving to take the first set 25-19. The Owls trailed 24-20 in the second set and staved off five set points before winning the frame 31-29 to take a 2-0 lead. FGCU's serving helped them create separation and the Eagles won set number three 25-17 to cut FAU's lead in half. The Eagles had doubled up the Owls, 12-6, early in the fourth set, but FAU battled their way back to even the score at 17. FGCU won the next three points, the Owls once again responded and leveled the score at 21. There were six more ties in the frame, the final one coming at 30. At that point, Sigourney Kame took over. The sophomore notched her career-best 24th kill, followed by a solo block to end the match.
