BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team have bolstered their incoming class with the addition of three transfers to now total eight newcomers to the 2017 roster.
In addition to the five freshmen previously inked on National Signing Day (http://www.fausports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/020117aab.html), the Owls have also added Ebba Blomqvist from Keiser University, Emma Jacobs from Kansas State University and Amanda Karabin from Brookdale Community College. Blomqvist and Karabin each have two years of eligibility remaining as juniors, while Jacobs took a redshirt at KSU and will have four years left.
Here is a breakdown of the three newest Owls:

Ebba Blomqvist, 5-8 Junior Midfielder, Skovde, Sweden (Keiser)
Blomqvist started 41 matches in two seasons for the two-time Sun Conference champion Seahawks. She was named NAIA All-American each year (Second Team in 2017 and Honorable Mention in 2016) and was First Team All-Sun Conference and NSCAA First Team All-Region both years. Most recently, as a sophomore, she was voted 2017 Sun Conference Player of the Year.
Blomqvist on FAU:
"It is with great joy and excitement I have been given the privilege to join the FAU Owls and the women's soccer team. I am aiming to contribute to the team's success and improve the program's record-breaking streak that has occurred the last couple of years."
Head Coach Patrick Baker on Blomqvist:
"We are excited to have Ebba join our 2017 roster after a tremendous first two years at Keiser University. I had recruited Ebba when she was a youth player in Sweden and so it's been nice to be reunited with her. Ebba can play holding midfield or center back and is talented in both positions. We need to find where she helps us the most with our current team. Having someone of her talents come to us so late in the summer was a pleasant surprise."

Emma Jacobs, 5-8 Redshirt Freshman Defender, Parkland, Florida (Kansas State)
Jacobs is a local product, having started for three years at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. She totaled 18 goals and 11 assists and was an Eagles' team captain as a senior. Three times, she earned Broward All-County Class 5A-4A Honors by the Sun-Sentinel, including a First Team nod as a senior. She also earned First Team All-County honors from the Miami Herald and was named 5A All-State by the FACA.
Jacobs on FAU:
"South Florida is home for me. I'm looking forward to returning and playing for Coach Baker. I have so much respect for him as a coach and as a person. I'm really excited to continue my studies at FAU and help the team in whatever way I can for us to be successful."
Baker on Jacobs:
"I had the good fortune of coaching Emma for three years at the youth level and know her well as a person and player. She is a welcomed addition to our back line and look forward to seeing her work with our team. Emma can play both centrally and wide defensively and her versatility will allow her to help us in a number of ways. She is a talented athlete that has her best soccer in front of her."

Amanda Karabin, 5-8 Junior Midfielder, Wall, New Jersey (Brookdale CC)
Karabin starred for the powerhouse Jersey Blues, helping lead the team to their third straight NJCAA national championship as a freshman, assisting on the game-winning goal in the title match. Last season, she was First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region after scoring 12 goals and adding 16 assists in 19 matches. Her first year, she was Second Team All-Region and All-Conference, starting all 20 matches with eight goals and seven assists.
Karabin on FAU:
"I chose FAU athletically because the day I met all the coaches, they made me feel welcomed and that they cared about my success as an athlete and believed in me that I was able to compete at this level. This was a dream of mine that I worked hard for and chased to achieve, and I am blessed to be here and given this opportunity and thankful for all those who have helped me along the way. I have been playing soccer since I was for years old and played at my junior college back home which included winning a national championship. I am very excited to continue playing my last two years of college with an awesome new team and coaches, and can't wait to see what this season has in store for us."
Baker on Karabin:
"Amanda reached out over the summer after enjoying a successful junior college career at Brookdale Community College. After watching her play and spending some time talking with her, she fits into our team culture very well and has dimensions to her game that we didn't have on our roster. She has good size and speed, with the ability to play out wide in the midfield or up front. Amanda's addition brings an experienced attacking player into what is a relatively young attacking group."
These three, along with their fellow newcomers and 22 returnees, lift the lid on the 2017 season this Friday night, hosting the Florida Gators at FAU Stadium at 7 p.m. More information on that match, and Sunday's opener at FAU Soccer Stadium, will come later this week.
