BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball dropped the second match of opening day to top 15-ranked FIU, 4-1.

On the FIU match:
We just didn't bring it to the FIU game. We showed up and played ok, but we didn't play to win. I think we played safe.

On playing Stetson and LSU which pits the Owls against three top 15-ranked teams in their first four matches:
It is a tough weekend right out of the gate. But, we are excited. We split with Stetson last year so it will be a big day.

Keys to the Match

Court 1 - Match 1: Jessalyn Kinlaw had 14 kills in 19 attempts and 18 digs. Court partner Megan Rice added 13 kills, three blocks and six digs
Court 2 - Match 2: Gabrielle Dischler recorded five kills. Teammate Brittany Pellitteri had 12 and two aces.
Court 3 - Match 3: Candace Lacour tallied nine kills in 12 attempts. Carly Scarborough had 19 kills in 24 attempts and two aces.
Court 1 - Match 4: Nicole Grant recorded 12 kills and seven digs while teammate Nicole Navarro added eight, an ace and 10 digs.
Court 2 - Match 5: Ashlan Cunningham recorded 21 kills and 19 digs. Partner Julia Lewkowicz added 15 kills, two aces and nine digs
Court 3 - Match 6: Sam Gott had 20 kills in 31 attempts, two service aces and five digs. Teammate Jazmine Barker added six kills in nine attempts and eight service aces while earning eight digs.
