Men's Owls Nipped by Rice 81-75 in Overtime

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (Feb. 11, 2017) - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team dropped a hard fought game to Rice 81-75 in overtime on Saturday. The loss drops FAU to 8-15 overall and 4-8 in Conference USA play.
The Turning Point
FAU led 42-35 early in the second half when Rice (17-8, 7-5) went on an 18-7 run to take a 53-49 with 11:26 to go in regulation. It was the biggest lead either team would have the rest of the second half.
The Finish
Adonis Filer hit a runner to tie the score at 75 with 54 seconds remaining in overtime. From that point, FAU missed its last three field goal attempts, while Marcus Evans hit a layup and Marquez Letcher-Ellis made four free throws to provide the final margin.
