Owls Swept by UTSA

BOCA RATON , Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped by UTSA in straight sets (27-25, 25-17, 25-18) on Friday. The Owls are now 15-8 on the season and 6-5 in Conference USA play.
Key Plays
FAU had a 22-15 lead late in the first set, but the Roadrunners (10-13, 8-3) closed the set on a 12-3 run to take the set and a 1-0 lead. UTSA kept the momentum going in the second frame, taking a 7-1 advantage. The Owls managed to pull within three at 13-10, but didn't get any closer and UTSA took a 2-0 lead with a 25-17 victory. The Roadrunners got out to another fast start in the third stanza, this time building a 13-4 cushion, eventually taking the set 25-18 to clinch the sweep.
Notables
- Sigourney Kame led the Owls with 13 kills.
- Dena Tekavec tied for the match-high with 10 digs.
- Ivone Martinez dished out 37 assists. She surpassed the 2,000 career assist mark in the match and currently has 2,036 for her FAU career.
