Owls Overwhelm FIU 83-65

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (Jan. 26, 2017) - A 15-1 second half run was the difference in the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team's 83-65 win over FIU on Thursday night. Four different Owls scored during the rally. The victory snapped a four game losing streak and improved FAU to 6-13 overall and 2-6 in Conference USA play.
The Turning Point
The Panthers (5-16, 1-7) scored five points in a row to take a 47-46 lead with 15:37 remaining in the game. FAU responded with their pivotal run over the next five and a half minutes to regain control of the contest. FIU never got closer than 12 the rest of the game.
Notables
- Adonis Filer and Gerdarius Troutman each had 18 points to lead all scorers. Troutman also had his first career start.
- Jeantal Cylla scored 16 points, tying his season high.
- Ronald Delph just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds to go along with three blocks.
- The Owls also outscored FIU 23-9 on fast break points and 39-12 off the bench.
- The win also gave FAU a season sweep of the Panthers for the first time since the 2010-11 season.
