BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Several Florida Atlantic University student-athletes took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer's at Mizner Park over the weekend. All funds raised through the event further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
The FAU men's basketball and softball teams assisted in a number of areas, including serving food, directing traffic, registering participants and post-race cleanup.
"It's important for our program to support and give back to the South Florida community," said FAU Head Men's Basketball Coach Michael Curry. "We welcome opportunities to get involved and had a great time at the event."
"We always look for opportunities to provide a helping hand at local events," said FAU Softball Head Coach Joan Joyce. "Community service is one of the things we stress as a team and an athletic department."
