BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Veteran cross country runner Chloe Sell and sophomore tennis player Anthony Schohn were recognized as Florida Atlantic University Department of Athletics Male and Female Athletes of the Week after putting up top finishes for their respective teams.
Sell was the top finisher on either side at the Mountain Dew Gator Cross Country Invitational last Saturday, coming in 28th with a 5K time of 19:06. This is the second FAU Player of the Week honor the graduate student has earned. She was recognized earlier this year after being the first Owl to cross the finish line and taking fourth overall in the 5K at the FAU Invitational.
Schohn went 4-0 in singles play and 3-1 in doubles action to lead the men's tennis team at the Bedford Cup in Tampa last weekend. Schohn ran the table in the B singles, topping opponents from Bethune-Cookman, FGCU and Stetson and worked his way to the finals, which were unfortunately canceled due to weather on Sunday. Schohn holds a 5-1 singles record so far this season.
Women's cross country is back on the course this Friday, Sept. 30 when they head to Titusville, Florida for the FLRunners.com Invitational at 5 p.m. Men's tennis has a busy weekend ahead as they will compete in the ITA All-America Championship from Thursday, Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
