BOCA RATON, Fla - (August 27, 2016) - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team dropped both of its matches at the FAU Invitational on Saturday. The Owls (1-3) lost to Drake 3-0 in their first match and 3-1 to Northeastern in the nightcap.
Game 1 Notables
- Maja Ristic narrowly missed a double-double with 15 kills and nine digs.
- Ivone Martinez had 27 assists and seven digs.
- FAU was outhit .270 to .142 in the match.
Key Plays
The score was tied late in both the second and third sets, but came up just short both times, allowing the Bulldogs to sweep the match.
Game 2 Notables
- Sigourney Kame had a team high 14 kills.
- Ristic (10 kills, 13 digs) and Martinez (28 assists, 13 digs) both had double-doubles in the match.
- Genesis Viera had 19 assists.
- Abbi Reid had 10 kills in her first action of the season.
- Ristic and Brianne Wojciakowski were named to the all-conference team.
Key Plays
The first set was tied at 22 when Kristi Tekavec and Kame had the last three kills of the set to give FAU a 1-0 lead. The advantage wouldn't last, as the Huskies pulled away down the stretch of the last three sets to take the match.
