BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" Florida Atlantic University outfielder Billy Endris was drafted in the 35th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2016 MLB Draft.
Endris was drafted in the 39th round of the 2015 draft before electing to return to FAU for his senior campaign, during which he helped the Owls win their first Conference USA Championship.
"I'm happy to keep baseball going," Endris said. "I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for FAU and our coaches - they increased my baseball knowledge and helped make this possible."
"After four years with Billy, this is a wonderful way for him to finish his career," FAU Head Coach John McCormack said. "I'm so happy and I'm looking forward to watching him go though minor league baseball. He worked extremely hard and deserves this."
The Tampa native recorded 64 hits with 38 runs and 31 RBI and committed just one error in his 52 games in center field. Endris tallied 10 doubles, two triples and two home runs this year.
In his four-year career, Endris saw action in 169 games, making 120 starts with 88 runs and 56 RBI. Endris also ranked among team leaders in that span with 22 stolen bases and 12 sacrifices.
Endris is the fifth Owl drafted this year, joining CJ Chatham, David McKay, Colyn O'Connell and Robbie Coursel, and is the 87th FAU draftee in the history of the program.
