JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic University track and field concluded the season at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championship on Thursday.
Deja Jones, a junior, represented FAU by competing in the 100m dash. Jones finished in 42nd place with a final time of 11.86. There was an uncharacteristic start to the race which caused Jones to not have the finish she is accustomed too.
Earlier this season Jones set a new school record at the UF relay's, where she finished 23rd overall with a final time of 11.55.
"Both coaches are extremely proud with how far Jones has come in her time at FAU. This was Deja's best outdoor season yet," Said Head Coach Alex Smolka. "Although it did not end exactly how we hoped, the experience gained will be invaluable for next season."
The top 12 finishers from each event will advance to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championship finals being held on Wednesday, June 8 through Saturday, June 11 in Eugene, Ore.
The men's and women's cross country season will begin in fall 2016. The official schedule will be announced later this year.
